5 Photos of The 4,400-Year-Old Tomb Unearthed Near Giza Pyramids on Saturday

On Saturday, an Egyptian archaeological mission discovered, on the outskirts of Cairo, a 4,400 year-old tomb which depicts ancient priestess Hetpet in a variety of scenes including some which highlight the use of monkeys as domestic pets, according to the New York Times.

The discovery is part of an excavation project which began in October and according to the project lead, Mostafa al-Waziri, the area is “very promising and what we see above the earth’s surface in Egypt doesn’t exceed 40 percent of what the core holds.”
