Khalid Abdalla's In the Last Days of the City Wins Big at Poland's Biggest Film Festival

Seems like British-Egyptian actor Khalid Abdalla is making the rounds at some of the world's most prestigious film award ceremonies again, this time for his latest project, the Tamer Said-directed drama In the Last Days of the City.

The film has garnered critical acclaim for its intimate portrayal of Cairo's spirit through the eyes of a young Egyptian filmmaker.

The film, which premiered at the Berlin Film Festival's forum section last February, has just been awarded the top prize at Poland's New Horizons International Film Festival, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

In the Last Days of the City is co-produced between Egypt, Germany, the UK and the UAE.

The recipients of the festival's Films on Art international competition's 10,000 Euro prize went to Palestinian director Jumana Manna for the documentary A Magical Substance Flows Into Me which explores the world of Arab Jewish folk music.
