Egypt Makes a Mark on Algeria's Oran International Arabic Film Festival

This summer in Algeria, the 11th edition for the Oran International Arabic Film Festival took place in the city of Oran, Algeria, where a total of five Egyptian films were featured. The film festival took place from July 25 to July 31. 

The five Egyptian films that featured at the festival include two short movies - Syndrome by Nouran Tarek and Nada by Ahmed Yehia - two Egyptian documentaries - Boody the Sumo Pharaoh by Sara Riad, and El Naht Fel Zaman by Youssef Nasser - and a feature film, Photocopy by Haitham Dabbour.

Among the numerous Arab luminaries celebrated at the festival were director Khaled Youssef, comedian Mohamed Henedy and the late starlet of Egyptian cinema Shadia. Youssef’s film Karma was screened for the opening of the ceremony. They also honoured Egyptian actor, Mohamed Ali, and Egyptian singer, Afar Shoeib.

The film festival included 10 feature films, 14 documentaries, and 14 shorts. The winners will be announced soon enough within the coming days, so keep your eyes and ears peeled.
