Arab Photographers Organise Print Sale to Support Artists in Palestine

In the face of the escalating genocidal war in Gaza and the West Bank, Palestinian photographers, storytellers and citizen journalists have become witnesses and archivists. They have become the subjects and the authors, bravely capturing the relentless attacks on their homeland.

As images continue to rally people and uncover the truth, a group of Arab photographers joined by mentees from the Arab Documentary Photography Program, have organised a print sale to support Palestinian artists residing in Gaza and the West Bank.

Titled 'I Wish to Photograph Beauty', the name pays tribute to the late Palestinian photographer Majd Arandas, who was killed in an Israeli airstrike on November 1st. Arandas had shared these same words with his colleagues in a voice note just days before his untimely death. The project aims to unite Palestinian photographers and visual storytellers from across the region to honour the strength of visual narratives and contribute to the transformative forces at work within Palestine.

Amongst the contributing artists are Palestine’s Majd Arandas, Samar Abu Elouf, Fatima Shbair, Maen Hammad, Egypt’s Roger Anis, Mohamed Mahdy, Hadeer Mahmoud and more.
