Egypt's ‘Souad’ to Premiere at New York's Tribeca Film Festival

After participating in the Cannes Film Festival and Berlinale Panorama, the Egyptian film ‘Souad’ is finally premiering at the Tribeca Film Festival in June 2021. While this isn’t the first film festival it participates in, this is the first time the film gets its own screening in front of an in-person audience.

‘Souad’ is about two sisters who live a seemingly normal life in the Nile Delta - until the older sister, Souad, adopts a secret cosmopolitan alter ego in search of online romance. The film is directed by Ayten Amin, and stars young actresses Bassant Ahmed and Basmala Elghaiesh.

The New York-based Tribeca Film Festival was founded by Hollywood A-lister Robert De Niro and producer Jane Rosenthal in 2001. Each year, the festival hosts over 600 screenings and awards in 23 categories.
