Egyptian Artists Ruby & Sharmoofers Take Over Expo 2020 This Weekend

This weekend, amidst the global showcases at Expo 2020 Dubai, things are about to look a lot more local with a pair of superstar concerts by Egyptian artists. Taking centre stage at the expo’s Sustainability Plaza, Sharmoofers and Ruby will each hold their own concerts on March 18th and March 20th!

Egyptian reggae and pop-infused rock band Sharmoofers - led by vocalist Ahmed Bahaa and drummer and guitarist Moe El-Arkan - is taking to Dubai with their harmonious fusions of Cuban funk and jazzy blues, where they will make the crowds swoon with their upbeat, genre-bending African-flavoured symphonies.

Ruby meanwhile has been turning heads since her debut single ‘Enta Areh Leif?’ in 2003. Although she disappeared from the music scene around 2008, Ruby experienced something of a comeback in 2021 with the release of her first album in 13 years.

Egyptian artists have already left their mark on the Expo 2020 stage, with the likes of Dina ElWedidi having previously performed on March 7th.
