'The Office' is Back in Business With Arabic Remake

The British cult comedy ‘The Office’, also known as the American mainstream sitcom ‘The Office’ starring Steven Carell, is getting its Arabic-language remake - oh how the turned have tabled.

What’s the procedure you may ask? Dubbed ‘Al Maktab’, the remake will be a 20-part series presented with that same mockumentary style we know and love, only this time it will be set in a courier company.

Set to air later this year on MBC’s TV channels and through its streaming service Shahid VIP, the remake is the result of a collaboration between television giants BBC Studios and satellite behemoth MBC.

Directed by Egyptian filmmaker Hisham Fathi, and produced by Shadi Mcdad, the show is said to star Saleh Abuamrh in the leading role of Malik Al-Tumaifi, the boss of this office. Whilst some might argue that few could beat the Ricky Gervais and Steve Carell renditions of the show, this rather culturally entrenched remake might just add its own little Arabic twang.
