Three Egyptian Films to Premiere at Berlin Int'l Film Festival

Not one, not two, but three Egyptian films are premiering at the 71st Berlin International Film Festival. ‘Souad’, ‘As I Want’, and ‘Seven Years Around the Nile Delta’ have all made it to the Berlinale in three separate categories.

‘Souad’ was previously scheduled to screen at the Cannes Film Festival’s Official Selection before the event got cancelled, but will instead be shown at the Berlin festival’s Panorama section. The film follows two teen sisters, one of whom has a secret life online.

‘Seven Years Around the Nile Delta’ is a five-and-a-half hour long documentary based on director Sharif Zohairy’s seven-year journey through the Nile Delta after the 2011 revolution, and will be shown in the Berlinale’s Forum Expanded section.

Finally, ‘As I Want’ is a joint Egyptian-French-Nordic-Palestinian documentary that will be shown in the Encounters section.
