Egypt Jihadists Release Beheading Video

Egyptian militants Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis have published a sickening beheading showing the final moments of four men accused of spying for Israel. The shocking clip begins with the taped 'confessions' of the four men who are thought to have served time in Israeli jail or been paid by Israeli spy agency, Mossad.

The victims then admit to providing information used to carry out a July 23 airstrike which killed three militants near Al-Arish. The men were abducted by gunmen two days earlier while driving in the North Sinai town of Sheikh Zuwaid. Security sources originally claimed that the men may have been beheaded for providing intelligence to the Egyptian military or police.

The clip echoes the beheading video released by ISIS showing the brutal beheading of US journalist James Foley. Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis previously pledged allegiance to the deadly terror group, which currently has a stronghold in parts of Syria and Iraq. In the 27-minute video, armed men in black masks stand over the captives before brutally cutting their heads off. The video marks the first known public beheading video on Egyptian soil.

Recent months have seen Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis step up efforts to intimidate the local population in Sinai with regular propoganda efforts declaring their intention to set up an Islamic state in North Sinai.
