Jordan’s Abwaab Set for Regional Expansion Following $5.1M Investment

Jordanian startup, Abwaab, has announced that it has raised $5.1 million in seed funding, bringing the edtech specialist's total funds to $7.5 million. The investment has come from a range of different sources, including 4DX Ventures, BECO Capital, EQ2 Ventures, Foundation Ventures, GSV Ventures, and Spartech Ventures, and will be used to fuel its ambitious regional expansion plans, beginning with Egypt.

Founded in 2019 by Hamdi Tabbaa, Hussein Al-Sarabi and Sabri Hakim, Abwaab is an online platform that has won praise for its content, which allows secondary students to learn at their own pace, test themselves and use expert tutors. Claiming to serve hundreds of thousands of students across the MENA region, the startup has produced over 50,000 thousand videos. For the founders, however, their achievements are just the tip of the iceberg.

“Our region is home to over 100 million students,” said Tabbaa, who also serves as Abwaab’s COO. “To unleash their full potential, we are empowering the upcoming generation with education. There is no region more ripe for education disruption than ours, and the entire Abwaab team has set sail to take this challenge head-on."
