talabat Egypt Celebrates International Programmers Day

talabat Egypt, the MENA region’s leading online food delivery platform, celebrated International Programmers’ Day (which is observed every year on its 256th day) to honour programmers and all the good they do to make life easier.

To celebrate, talabat Egypt - in collaboration with El Alfy Foundation, a non-governmental organisation that aims to support people with high capabilities - invited over 50 students from public schools to spend a day with local and regional Tech and Product (T&P) teams to gain hands-on experience in programming.

The event was held at talabat’s newly-inaugurated office in Maadi, where talabat’s team played an active role in organising  talks, workshops and engagement for the students. Khaled Rashad, Chief Technology Officer, and Michel Aguib, Senior Director of Engineering, gave talks on diverse topics that covered an overview of the tech industry, how to start a career in tech, the order cycle in online delivery, and how talabat’s T&P teams operate.

“Today we celebrate and recognize the contributions of the developer community in making life easier for everyone,” Khaled Rashad, Chief Technology Officer of talabat, tells StartupScene. “The world wouldn’t be the same without programmers and their innovative solutions. For that, talabat wants to give back and recognize their efforts, as well as inspire future programmers.”

Through its tech hubs in Cairo and Dubai, it has developed one of the best T&P teams in the region, capable of addressing important topics around personalization, automation, and fraud detection amongst other issues. By supporting its team, talabat not only makes its platform more powerful and efficient, but also helps its users and customers have a better experience.
