7 Arab Podcasts to Brighten Your Mind Even in the Storm

Snuggled up at home though we are, we’re still in the mood for something to keep our minds churning. Grab a cup of hot tea, your favourite blankie, and put on your headphones— we’ve curated a list of the best Arab podcasts we think you’ll love. We most certainly do, anyway.

1. Hamburger Generation

This light-hearted comedy series tells the tales of everyday Arabs living as 2nd generation expats and immigrants through very short and very real stories.

2. Rumooz

With a focus on Arab culture and history, Rumooz dedicates each episode of the show to take us back into a detailed account of the lives of the region’s biggest icons and figures. From Huda El Shaarawy and Nizar Qabbani, to Shagaret El Dor and Dalida— this podcast invigorates our sense of cultural pride.

3. 3eib

This trailblazing podcast series discusses all things taboo, or as the tetas call it, 3eib. We’re talking about religious conversion, sex education, extramarital birth, like, the whole sixty-nine yards.

4. Masaha

To be an Arab woman has certain limitations and obstacles, but that comes with the territory. Discussing how to manoeuvre that treacherous territory and make the most of it is Masaha. Whether it's women in the workplace, in politics, or in matters of economy, chances are this podcast has discussed it.

5. Kerning Cultures

Our change-makers, revolutionaries and storytellers; all the conversations surrounding the people who paint a picture of our identity wrapped up in an articulate and thought-provoking series on what it means to be Arab.

6. Jasadi

Body image and self-love can be a difficult ordeal in the face of perceptions and ideals we embody as a region. Encouraging us to take those pressures with a grain of salt is this Arabic audio show.

7. Dom Tak

Arabic rap, jazz, mahraganat, and the littlest-known crevices in our region’s musical landscape are not only brought to light, but examined tastefully in this modern take on music.
