Cairo's Historical Palaces & Museums Are Going Cashless

A new electronic ticketing system has been implemented at the Baron Empain Palace in Heliopolis, the Royal Vehicles Museum in Boulaq and the Muhammad Ali Palace in Manial, as part of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities’ efforts to convert to a cashless digital system.

Around 120 tourist sites and museums in Egypt are now using this new electronic payments system. The first sites to have gone cashless were the Temples of Abu Simbel, Edfu and Kom Ombo as well as the Nubian Museum, all in the Aswan Governorate. A number of sites in Cairo, including the Giza Pyramids, the Citadel of Salaheddine el Ayoubi as well as the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square, shortly followed.

Cashless payments will also be allowed for school trips to sites that are under the purview of the Ministry.
