Children Aged 15 to 18 Years Old to Be Offered Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine

After the US gave the final stamp of approval to Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine for children aged five to 11, Egypt followed through, announcing that it will begin vaccinating teenagers aged 15 to 18 with the vaccine.

The decision clears the way for the vaccination of millions of teenagers, which comes at a critical time, as non-vaccinated students will not be allowed entry to universities starting November 15th.

Egypt currently has a stock of eight million Pfizer doses available, and a total of 34 million doses of various COVID-19 vaccines - enough to vaccinate 17 million citizens. During the coming period, Egypt is expected to receive more than 26 million doses of various vaccines. With the current daily vaccination rate of about 500,000 doses, Egypt is edging closer to achieving its target of vaccinating 40 million people by the end of 2021.
