EGP 3.6 Billion Will Be Spent on Water Supply Projects in Aswan

The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development allocated EGP 3.6 billion to strengthen the water supply in the governorate of Aswan. The fund will help revive and launch a number of new irrigation projects. The budget rose by 17.3% compared to the budget allocated for the 2021/2022 period, and was recently approved by the Egyptian Parliament to address the impact of climate change in Aswan.

The budget is part of the ministry’s Citizen Investment Plan for 2023 in Aswan, which included sustainable development goals and active citizen participation projects. The budget will also go towards the ongoing Upper Egypt Drinking Water Management Programme initiatives in Aswan, which by 2027 is set to expand the governorate’s water distribution network in the regions of Kattareeya, Khor Awda, El-Nasseriya and Amberkab.
