Egypt Jumps Up 10 Ranks in 'Global Knowledge Index' 2020

The Global Knowledge Index (GKI) is an initiative by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the UAE Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF) which measures various facets of knowledge in different countries across the world, from pre-university education to research by higher educational facilities. This year, Egypt has jumped 10 spots on the GKI, now ranking at 72nd place out of 134 countries. This is not too surprising if you've got track of some of Egypt's academic achievements throughout 2020, like when 400 Egyptian researchers were counted among the 2% of most-cited professors in the world.

Coming in at first place on the GKI is Switzerland for the fourth year, followed by the United States and Finland. As for the Arab world, the UAE has ranked highest among Arab countries, coming in at 15th place globally and rising 3 spots since last year.
