Egypt Produces One Million Doses of Sinovac's COVID-19 Vaccine

We’ve hit a milli, now can we make it 100 milli? Egypt’s local COVID-19 vaccine production is gaining steam as the country reached a milestone by producing its first million doses of Sinovac’s COVID-19 vaccine with the Holding Company for Biological Products and Vaccines (VACSERA).

Under the VACSERA-Sinovac label, the deployment of locally-manufactured vaccines seeks to give Egypt greater autonomy as the world scrambles for jabs.

We’re still in the early days of local production, but the VACSERA factory now boasts the capacity and the reserves of raw material to produce 600,000 doses per day.

Current contracts and plans enable Egypt to produce 40 million doses by the end of 2021, but the government is hoping to double the figure to 80 million, and is in contact with China’s Sinovac in pursuit of this new goal.
