Egypt's Canals Get a Glow Up With Nationwide Clean-Up & Fix-Up Project

In effort to meet Egypt’s sustainable development goals, Haya Karima is undertaking a national project to rehabilitate 20,000 kms of canals in total, at a cost of EGP 80 billion, by 2024. The project has already redeveloped 5242 kms of canals across different govererates, simplifying irrigation and increasing agricultural productivity.

The Ministries of Irrigation, Agriculture and Finance are currently working together to raise awareness of Egypt’s water shortage and the steps the country has taken to  move past it.

Other projects under Haya Karima’s umbrella include work to protect residents against torrential rains, and operate alongside solar energy, as well as improve overall quality of life for Egyptians in rural areas.
