Egypt’s Power Cut Plan Extended Till March
However, the period of each cut will decrease from an hour to only 10 minutes.
Dec 26, 2023
In response to the ongoing fuel supply issues faced by production stations, the Egyptian government has announced an extension of the power cut plan until March 2024.
Under the extended plan, daily power cuts across the country will range between 600 and 800 megawatts (MWs), lasting for 10 minutes at a time. The officials also revealed that the Electricity Ministry's strategic reserves of fuel oil, excluding daily supplies from the Petroleum Ministry, currently stand at 150,000 tonnes.
To mitigate the fuel shortage, the Petroleum Ministry is providing daily supplies of fuel oil, amounting to approximately 10,000 to 12,000 tonnes.
