Egyptian Bodybuilder Big Ramy Wins Mr Olympia for Second Year in a Row

For the second year in a row, Egypt’s bodybuilding pride and joy, Mamdouh ‘Big Ramy’ Elssbiay, has brought home the Mr. Olympia title, one of the most coveted awards in the world of bodybuilding. Held in Orlando, Florida, the competition produced a hotly-contested final round, with Big Ramy beating out Brandon Curry, Hadid Choopan, Hunter Labrada and Nick Walker, to walk home with USD $400,000 in prize money.

Mr. Olympia is widely regarded as the most prestigious bodybuilding showcase in the world, having debuted back in 1965. It’s most famous competitor is none other than Arnold Schwarzenegger, who dominated the competition in the 70s, winning it seven times between 1970 and 1980. While there’s no guarantee that Big Ramy will follow in his footsteps into a life of acting and politics, the back-to-back wins cement the Egyptian as one of the best in the business.
