Food Security Symposium Takes Place in Cairo on September 28th & 29th

The Food Security Symposium, held in partnership between the Ministry of International Cooperation and the World Food Programme (WFP), will take place in Cairo on September 28th and September 29th. The symposium will bring together speakers and representatives from governments, financial institutions and the private sector - including startups from Egypt, the MENA region and beyond - to discuss the increasingly-necessary issue of climate resilience.

The symposium will cover cutting-edge solutions through agritech that enhances climate resilience with agricultural innovations, social development that emphasizes the use of safety nets and empowerment programmes, and financial inclusion to reach and finance the most vulnerable communities.

Expected to draw in 250 guests across various public and private partnerships, the Food Security Symposium will highlight the importance of acknowledging climate change as a part of our daily reality, particularly in the lead-up to the COP27 UN Climate Change Conference in Sharm El Sheikh later this November. The symposium will also spotlight the 54-year relationship between the WFP and the Egyptian government in affecting social protection, assisting refugees and migrants, capacity strengthening and nutrition.
