Egypt never stopped being top dog when it comes to cotton. Walk into any home store in America or Europe and you’ll find their nicest bedspreads all have the words “100% Egyptian cotton” all over their little nubby tags, and for good reason. Even then, we could be better. The Ministry of Agriculture is shaking up their cotton game by implementing a production plan for organic, pesticide-free culture methods.
The new organic farming programme has recently begun in Fayoum, where they are already using biological control methods rather than harmful pesticides to protect their crops from pests like worms.
