Olympian Ahmed Elgendy Ranked No. 2 Worldwide in Modern Pentathlon

After snagging Egypt and Africa’s first-ever Olympic medal in modern pentathlon at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Ahmed Elgendy is now ranked No. 2 in the world for modern pentathlon according to the Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne (UIPM).

The decorated young athlete is the recipient and ambassador of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Award (MBRCSA) and has won UIPM’s Best Junior Pentathlete award. Elgendy has also competed and won a gold medal at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics.

At the Tokyo Olympics, Elgendy pushed British Joseph Choong - the eventual gold medalist - hard to the line with a stellar performance in the shooting’s fourth round, finishing with a silver medal for Egypt with 1,477 points, just five points behind Choong.
