Over One Million Children Checked for Hearing Impairment Every Year

The Presidential Initiative for Early Detection and Treatment of Newborn Hearing Impairment and Loss, which was launched in September 2019, succeeded in conducting an audiological survey of three million newborn babies. On average, the initiative has helped over one million children every year since it began.

Additionally, the initiative has referred 18.9 thousand children for a higher evaluation, whether to start medical treatment, install a hearing aid, or refer the child for a transplant. Almost EGP 245 million were spent on cochleas for those whose condition needed them over the past three years.
