Prague’s National Museum to Showcase Dozens of Ancient Egyptian Artefacts in Upcoming Exhibition

To celebrate Ancient Egypt’s immense archaeological and cultural history, the ‘National Museum’ in Prague has received dozens of artefacts from Abusir, which will be put on display as part of the museums “King of the Sun” exhibition, the first exhibition of its kind in the museum.

The collection – loaned to Prague’s National Museum by the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir and several other institutions – includes various sculptures, canopies and papyruses, which were all discovered a Czech archaeological mission in Abusir. The most valuable piece in the exhibition will be a basalt statue of King Raneferef, dating all the way back to 2460 BC.

The exhibition is set to open at the end of August 2020, and run until February 2021.
