Sharm El Sheikh to Host UN Climate Change Conference COP27

Egypt has been chosen as the host nation of COP27, next year’s edition of the United Nations’ global climate change conference.

Set to take place in November, 2022 in Sharm El Sheikh, the summit is considered one of the most important international conferences, with delegations from member states of the Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Climate Agreement coming together to discuss and negotiate the implementation of their climate change agreements.

The conference is held in a different region of the world every year, with Egypt representing Africa in 2022. This year's COP26 conference will take place in Europe, as represented by the city of Glasgow, UK. Sharm El Sheikh has been the location of choice for many international events, including the UN Biodiversity Conference COP14 as recently as 2018.
