Shipping Company Maersk Invests $15bn in Green Energy Network in Egypt

Global shipping company Maersk is sailing into Egypt with a USD 15 billion investment into green energy. The Danish shipping giants are collaborating with Egypt’s Suez Canal Authority on a network for clean fuel for ships, which is expected to create over 100,000 jobs.

The collaboration is expected to further increase one of Egypt’s main streams of revenue. As a vital thread in global trade, the use of clean fuel for the ships that sail through the Suez Canal aligns with the Egyptian government’s ambitions to put sustainability on the forefront, particularly considering their role in hosting the upcoming COP27 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Sharm El Sheikh this November.
