Solar-Powered Vehicles Installed at Luxor’s Valley of the Kings

The city of Luxor, home to a third of the world’s ancient monuments, is getting futuristic with new solar-powered vehicles, which will transport visitors and tourists between the Valley of the Kings and Deir El Bahary.

The two locations are some of the most visited tourist destinations in Egypt. The solar-powered infrastructure hopes to revive eco-friendly tourism while preserving the iconic locations.

Solar-powered vehicles are part of the second phase of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities' ongoing plans to transform Luxor into a green destination, after introducing electric cars earlier this year. The project is part of a nationwide effort to move towards renewable energy, in light of Egypt hosting the COP27 UN Climate Change Conference in Sharm El Sheikh this November.
