Cooking for a Cause

Learn, cook, and contribute to a good cause: that’s the motto behind Four Seasons First Residence’s #FSCookingForCure, a cooking class hosted by their Italian chef Riccardo Parisse organised for Breast Cancer Awareness Month in collaboration with the Egyptian Society of Women’s Health.

Parisse, the chef working his Italian magic at the hotel’s charming Strada restaurant, will teach participants the secrets of three Italian delicacies with one common attribute: something pink among its ingredients - pink as the colour of the ribbon that symbolises world struggle against cancer.

Starting off with Beetroot Risotto with Goat Cheese, the chef will continue with a Salmon with Caponata and Red Pepper Coulis, crowned by an exquisite Bavarois with raspberry compote for dessert. Chef Riccardo, who learned to cook by watching his grandmother mastering the kitchen, prepares authentic Italian specialties framed by the charming atmosphere crafted by the restaurant’s Tuscan style interior and jaw-dopping Venetian glass chandelier.

“Nutrition is a very important prophylactic for breast cancer, because it affects the lifestyle of women and; and since Four Seasons regularly does cooking classes, we partnered with them to organise one for breast cancer,” says ESWH’s founder Norran Hussein.

Inviting participants to make a difference and spread awareness while learning delicious Italian recipes, the event will be held on Wednesday 21st at the stunningly cozy Strada, located on the hotel's 3rd floor. Kicking off with the cooking lesson at 10:30 AM the event will be followed by a lunch at 1:00 PM. A part of the participant’s fee – 450 LE including the cooking class, lunch and non alcoholic beverages — will be donated to charity.

As October marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the ESWH is also offering discounted and free mammograms for women, in an effort to raise awareness and increase prevention efforts. “We have also organised sports events, such as a 5km Run for Breast Cancer we have planned in Korba on Friday 23rd,” Hussein adds. National estimates indicate that breast cancer is the most common cancer among Egyptian women, accounting for 35% of all cases treated at the National Cancer Institute.
