Here Are 8 Spots Where You Can Eat Out With Friends

If you’ve got more than two friends (congrats!), and they’re both Arab, then you’re automatically a boisterous and ravenous group.

Despite what people may say, having a bunch of friends that you need to drag around with you every Thursday night can get quite tough; especially when it feels like you have visited all of the cool restaurants that the city has to offer several times over.

LABASH

Starting us off is a dining-with-friends classic. With locations all over Cairo, Labash specializes in a very particular type of communal feasting: eating off of the table. It’s pretty straightforward really, just show up with a bunch of friends, take your pick from their meat selection and enjoy your food with fries, flat bread, and sauces all plated and served directly onto your table.

MAMUSHKA

Mamushka is a food experience curator offering both cooking classes and private dining experiences. Created by a chef and interior designer sister duo, Mamushka is all about using locally sourced ingredients to prepare different kinds of dishes across multiple cuisines. A great opportunity to bond with your friends and find out who’s a secret masterchef, this is the place that’ll spice up your Thursday night outing slump.

Location: Maadi

TWO SPOONS

Open from 8 AM to 1 AM,  Two-Spoons is all about the magic of a shareable meal devoured any time of day. Whether you’re brunching or lunching, they’ve got you covered with their delicious selection of main courses and desserts.

LA CITTA

Located in both Sheikh Zayed and Sahel’s Marassi, La Citta is the Italian-turned-comfort-food spot we’ve been desperate for. Extremely spacious and while retaining its coziness, they serve up a range that starts at homemade Italian food and ends at international fusion dishes, all prepared with the freshest ingredients. Oh, and did we mention they make their olive oil in house?

Location: Mall of Egypt, Sheikh Zayed

GALA

If you’re a friend group of artsy girls and guys looking for a restaurant to fit your aesthetic, you need to visit GALA. Paying tribute to some of the greats of modern art and literature, both of GALA’s branches show immense thought in their interior design and stylistic choices. With dishes (and plating) like theirs though, the decor isn’t the only thing that’s pretty. Combining international food with more asian influences, GALA is a feast for the eyes and stomach.

Location: 5A, New Cairo

GRANITA

Zamalek babes with a large group of friends that they can never invite over because everything in Zamalek is just so darn small, do not despair! Granita is the hidden gem of the area, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of 26th of July street. With gorgeous interior decor, a spacious garden for outdoor seating, and the best lemon tart in all the land, Granita is guaranteed to be your new go to.

Location: All Saints Cathedral, Zamalek

REIF KUSHIYAKI

If you and your friends feel like introducing yourselves to something completely new, consider trying Reif Kushiyaki’s self-described ‘unconventional Japanese food’. With an original branch in Dubai, chef and founder Reif Othman was determined to introduce his edgy take on traditional Japanese food to Cairo. From skewered meats inspired by robata restaurants to sandos and katsus, Reif Kushiyaki is bound to make an impression on your palates.

CHAR BAR

Nothing says living life on the edge like grabbing a juicy burger and a creamy shake at an upscale restaurant. Located in the Four Seasons First Residence, Char Bar is a fancy take on a burger joint, seamlessly merging the blinking neon signs of a hole-in-the-wall and the premium quality food of a fine dining establishment.
