5 Egyptian Designers Killing it at International Fashion Weeks

At the risk of stating the obvious, Egyptians have been killing it left and right on the international fashion arena for a few years now. From breathtaking red carpet looks to stunning catwalks taking over the world's biggest fashion weeks, up and coming Egyptian designers are setting the record straight for what it means to be an Egyptian in fashion. Here's a list of five Egyptian brands taking Egypt to the foreground of international fashion scene:

Okhtein

It would be a grave miscalculation for us to commence this list with none other than Okhtein. After making their debut into the industry 4 years ago, this bag designing brand is now becoming one of Egypt's most recognised and celebrated fashion labels. Just recently, Queen Bey herself was seen sporting a fabulous Okhtein bag, as cofounder Mounaz Abdel-Raouf revealed in an exclusive chat with us.

 Norine Farah

With fresh aesthetic and an unmistakable flare of high-end glamour, Norine Farah ventured into Egypt's ever-growing fashion industry a few years back with one distinct collection after the other. In summer 2015, Farah was the only Egyptian designer to flaunt her creations at Tiffany’s New York Fashion Week official competition, and has since never failed to leave us in awe over her wearable art.

Maram Aboul Enein

After earning a Fine Arts degree from the prestigious Parsons Paris and training under iconic names the likes of Oscar De Le Renta and Zac Posen, Aboul Enein proceeded to found her eponymous brand MARAM in 2014. Fast-forward two years, Maram was one of 5 Egyptians designers selected to participate at London Fashion Week's International Fashion Showcase. And this missy has done us proud.

The King's Mother

Blurring the not-so-invisible gender barrier in fashion is this up and coming women blazers brand, which launched less than two years ago. With her inspiration being menswear couture, the brand's founder Farida Naguib set out to deconstruct how Egyptian women carry themselves once and for all. The massive success of the brand, for which the latest collection was Lady-Boss-Chic, earned it a well-deserved spot in a trade show at last year's Paris Fashion Week.

Sara Hegazy

2010 Dubai was where Sara Hegazy launched her eponymous brand, quickly earning herself a spot among the region's fashion powerhouses. 2013's London Fashion Week is where this Egyptian designer put her first stamp on international fashion, making her the first Egyptian to take part in the UK's biggest fashion affair.
