Achingly Cool Urbanism with We Are Hue*manity

New unisex label ‘We Are Hue*manity’ strode into Cairo’s fashion scene bearing an urban utilitarian aesthetic that’s got us thumping our boomboxes and pondering the true meaning of being a baller. Every bit as versatile as a white tee and jeans, utilitarian dressing is just a little bit crisper. Founded by long-time friends Yasmeen Heiba, Omar El Sherif, and Ramy Suliman over two years, the new label embraces practicality, which is often considered a dirty word in fashion. Vests, trenches, cargo pants - or really anything with pockets - are central to the utilitarian look that ‘We Are Hue*manity’ strives to perfect.

With fluid silhouettes and cocooning softness, their designs are lightweight and highly layerable, balancing cutthroat urbanism with adaptable shapes. Safari-inspired dressing is also present in their debut collection, featuring cargo pants and shorts that strike a tone between relaxed streetwear and Steve Irwin-chic. "It is comfort. It is colour. It is diverse,” the founders tell SceneStyled. “Each collection is initially based on a theme that is represented through the season’s hues, which is how the misspelling of the word ‘humanity’ came to be. We believe that the best way to communicate is through art and colour.”

With a strong use of tech fabrics and an embrace of juxtaposition between shades opposite on the colour scale in their debut collection. Ever so slightly sporty, the label’s designs are highly accessible to the everyman who simply wants to throw something on without thinking about it, as well as those with a more nuanced sense of style.
