Dubai's SWEY Collective Meshes High Fashion With Cyberpunk Digital Art

An alien concept meets an equally esoteric application; Swey Collective is the brand you watch from afar as they seemingly tap into every abstract form of fashion. It’s the label you expect to build eclectic pop-ups on London’s bustling streets, and play host to the industry’s most sought after art directors in a ‘let’s geek out over Trussardi’s rebranding over a glass or two of champagne and a one too many shrimp cocktails’ moment (they’re a thing, trust us). Taking inspiration from Dubai’s budding fashion scene and blossoming infrastructure, Swey serves as a microcosmic reflection of the extravagant city.

“We wanted to push that culture further, expressing the experimentational nature of the city that birthed us.” Vishal, co-founder of Swey Collective, tells SceneStyled. “Swey is pretty much a cultural revolution of sorts, you know, whereby young experimental people can come forward, in a very inclusive showcase of ethnicities, cultures and varied backgrounds.”

A forty minute Zoom call (shame on you, Zoom Limited) instigated what can only be described as the NFT-high fashion epiphany SceneStyled has witnessed to date. The Dubai-based ‘Cyber y2k’ brand expanded amidst the clustered industry as a result of pure devotion to affordable fashion as well as a deep interest for the inner workings of the digital art realm.

Debuting in late 2018, Swey Collective attempts to pave paths for those wanting to push boundaries by circumventing the failures that come about taking that leap. Intertwining bold colourways with old-timey frames ensure the pieces remain wearable.

Their most recent drop ‘Swey 3.0’ reanimates the brand’s core philosophy whilst also channeling the classic chunky rimmed sunnies reminiscent of Jaqueline Kennedy’s signature shades. Styled through a series of monochromatic looks, the pieces demand attention, drawing customers closer to their refined construction and flattering silhouettes.
