Jayda Hany's Resort Collection Blooms With Ancient Egyptian Heritage
With a riveting storyline deeply woven into its leather rimmed pouches, Jayda Hany's new collection re-invigorates a beloved theme amongst local artisans: that of a treasured heritage.
Establishing herself amidst the saturated pools of footwear in the region, budding designer Jayda Hany’s latest collection honours the multifariousness of Ancient Egyptian heritage, amalgamating her architectural background with that of her evergrowing fashion knowledge on the current global arena.
“Each product is designed to resemble one of the stages of the lotus flower’s life cycle, “ Hany tells SceneStyled. “I started with the Kira bag because it represents the Nile Delta. And then I worked on the Sahar bag, inspired by my mum’s name, which represents the lotus flower that is still blooming at first light. The Lotus tote resembles the ancient flower at the latest stage of the blossoming stage, as it opens up further. The Nile bag, the final addition to the collection, and slippers are meant to depict the Nile's newly saturated surface, one that is covered in Lotus flowers.”
With a riveting storyline deeply woven into its leather rimmed pouches, the collection re-invigorates a beloved theme amongst local artisans: that of cultural ancestry.
A geographical microcosm, Hany’s collection conflates naturally occurring lifecycles to those of familial ones in order to push put a line that actively speaks to everything and everyone she loves.
