New Mens Footwear Label, Jarii, Debuts With Daring Mule Collection

Boldly striding into the local menswear scene, Jarii is the new Egyptians men's footwear label hoping to usher in some more daring fashion trends. Up first in their debut collection — the mule.

“We’re trying to set trends in Egypt that are already available abroad but haven’t gained much popularity on a local level," Lamitta Sayed AlAhl, one of the founders, told CairoScene. "We're starting with mules for men since they aren’t really available here.”

AlAhl, along with cofounders Sherif Hazem Diab and Sherif Mahlab, launched the brand at the beginning of August. “Jarii means 'brave’ in Arabic, and that is what the brand is all about—  learning to be bold,” AlAhl said. Their designs certainly lean in that direction, utilizing an array of colourful and printed mules complete with quirky tassels and other eye-catching details.

The brand’s production process is completely local, sourcing genuine leather domestically and employing artisans for their handmade final pieces. Quite soon, they hope to expand into other items, such as women footwear and maybe even some non-footwear pieces too.
