This Inclusive Local Swimwear Label is 'The Shore Thing' This Summer

Skimming the surface of the local fashion scene is a feat for the brave, especially when you factor in the everso cataclysmic rise of locally-produced labels. With that notion in mind, resident beach baddies and size-inclusive swimwear brand ‘The Shore Thing’ are enabling us to refine our options one bikini bottom at a time. After deep-diving into the depths of eras past, The Shore Thing swam back up to the surface with an extensible collection of botanical beachwear and in turn, their newest drop, Resort.

“Our new collection is very close to our hearts as it’s inspired by ‘it girls’ from different eras,” co-founder Sara Youssef tells SceneStyled. “We have a variety of designs tailored for every taste from the Naomi swimmer and the soft preppy girls to the Graham for more edgy and playful girls.”

Few have roamed Sahel’s shores with the confidence they so desperately deserve, and The Shore Thing is not a stranger to the all-consuming nature of being hyper-aware of one’s body. “Many girls may feel insecure when they are at the beach, as that’s when we are most conscious of our bodies,” Youssef continues. “Together we want to break the stereotype of having the perfect summer body, and just learn to love bodies and express ourselves through the shore thing swimsuits. To help girls do that, we expanded our range this year to not only swimwear but coverups, and beach wear under our ‘Resort’ collection.”

Akin to their easy-breezy Covergirl aesthetic the collection is brimming with bold hues and innovative silhouettes. Their Monroe one-piece draws on old Hollywood babe Marylin Monroe’s perfectly figure-hugging aesthetic and the Graham bikinis pay homage to swimsuit illustrated model Ashley Graham’s own vibrant creations.
