Up-Fuse Dedicates Portion of Sales to Buy Sanitisers for Staff as They Sew From Home

Social and environmental impact are at the core of Up-Fuse’s ethos, which creates employment opportunities in Mansheyet Nasser (known, unfortunately as Garbage City), through recycling plastic waste into trendy bags and accessories. However, like many businesses big or small, a slow-down in production as a direct result of the current Coronavirus pandemic has led to a reduction in income for the local talent that work skilfully to create the eco-friendly bags that have become a staple on Egypt’s style scene.

In a move to help keep their staff safe despite the income losses, the Up-Fuse team have announced that they’ll be dedicating a portion of all their sales during the COVID-19 Crisis to buying sanitisers, ethyl alcohol and other disinfecting solutions for their factory staff and their families.

Linking sales to social impact is a longer-term solution to giving back to the community and talent make the Up-Fuse brand what it is than simple donations, keeping the wheel turning and helping get them back on their feet. They’ve also set up an innovative work-from-home scheme for all their staff, letting them take some tools with them to set up mini-workshops in the safety of their own homes.

If you’re looking to treat yourself to a shiny new bag or have a gift-giving commitment coming up, check out Up-Fuse’s latest collection and rest assured you’ll be helping the environment and at-risk micro-economies at the same time.
