Yasmine Sabri Becomes the First Middle Eastern Woman To Star in Cartier Campaign

Cartier’s latest Panthère collection will be launched through a global film campaign, which will feature beloved Egyptian actress Yasmine Sabri alongside international muses such as Mariacarla Boscono, Karen Mok, Annabelle Wallis, and Ella Balinska.

The Alexandria-born actress joined the Cartier family two and a half years ago, and after the glittering journey will now be the very first woman from the region to star in one of the brand’s films. The project, titled 'Into the Wild', will embody the spirit of the “fierce yet feminine character emblematic of the wild cat,” according to Vogue Arabia. A symbol of raw and powerful womanhood, the panther has been a symbol of the luxury jewellery house since 1914 when Jeanne Toussaint, the house’s artistic director, first featured it on a watch. For Sabri, this theme is emblematic of her whole career and the message she wishes to communicate with her audience.

When talking to Vogue Arabia, the actress said that travelling to Paris to shoot the film was “the highlight” of her year. “Sometimes men think if a woman is too strong, too masculine, she’s not as feminine, but that’s also represented in the watch. You can look so feminine and so elegant, but you’re still a strong, independent woman and you know your worth,” Sabri said to the magazine.

The film is scheduled to debut at Cartier boutiques and airports this month and will feature Sabri’s favourite piece from the collection: the Panthère de Cartier timepiece. To her, the diamond-adorned watch says, “I stand out and I don’t belong to any crowd. I’m strong, I’m independent, I’m beautiful, I’m wild, I’m irreplaceable.”
