Table Talk: 10 Creative Coffee Tables by Egyptian Designers

Coffee tables can present themselves quite like the chicken-and-egg paradox. Do you furnish the space and then place the table as the final touch, or do you pick out the table first and treat it like a true centrepiece by completing the arrangement around it? Well, we’ve decided to make that decision for you by compiling a variety of coffee tables that will compel you to start with them first. Whether it’s for their sustainability, intricate detailing, or outrageous form…

Hey by RKAN

Hello there, Hey. Offering rather introspective table talks with its retro futuristic aura (which it gets from the cubed design) Hey is one of eight pieces crafted by functional art brand, RKAN, as part of their ‘Art of Relationships’ collection, through which they created storylines around the pieces. Hey speaks of compassion, tenderness and vibrance through its oak, mirror and metal.

SOL by Eklego Design StudioEarlier in the summer season, the studio released ‘Breeze In’, a furniture collection inspired by summertime nostalgia. SOL was evolved from a previous design which features a rounded pot and top, presenting itself as a curvy form in the space.

Pink Rush by Shell Homage

Here’s the deal about the colourful surfaces of these versatile tables; they are made out of recycled egg and nut shells. Enough said. It can be used as a side table or coffee table with interchangeable table tops and they are entirely foldable.

Coffee Table Blocks by The Spring Project

There’s something uniquely fashionable about having mirrored coffee tables in a living room, maybe they would look good next to furry furniture to complete this oddly 70’s look. Plus, the twin mirrored coffee tables would prove to be fun to style, with their gold bottom trims.

Mozaic Ö by HAF

From the seamless to the detailed. This signature design by product designer Jihan El Touni and architect Hassan Abouseda depicts a scene from a tomb in the Saqqara necropolis by carefully placing endless mosaics and stained glass into an oak frame with a walnut stain.

In Full Bloom by Cairo Stone Studio

While blissful scenes from Saqqara look great in mosaic, so do the 350 daisies which had their petals assembled by hand on this blooming creation by Cairo Stone Studio. The daisies are made out of Bardiglio, Silver Travertine and Paris Grey marbles, giving off a subtle variety of colour.

Prism by Form Studio

Part of their Fluidity Series, which explores natural forms, the Prism Coffee Tables may appear to shift in colour, from sky blue to purple. Aside from technicolour narratives, the semi-transparent tables have an almost bean-like shape.

Magma by Undefined

Combining the zeal of Rouge Agadir marble and the smoothness of oak veneer, Magma has a solid wooden top that rests on the marble cylinders to create an enchanting contrast. It’s part of Undefined’s inaugural collection, which was inspired by warmth.

Twin by AMI
If an all-out marble approach is your thing, well, here’s one of AMI Interiors’ mad marble creations. Made with Breccia Grey marble, they are edgy and fun.

Guiltless Grey Rock by August

Artist Rana Ibrahim, who makes one half of the brand, has been creating a variety of artworks and sculptures, and when it came to shaping a coffee table after a rock, she did so convincingly. Bold in character and grey in colour.
