5 Egyptian Organisations and Treatment Centres Battling Breast Cancer Today

In case you didn’t know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. As of 2019, breast cancer made up 18.9% of all cancer cases in Egypt, and is the most common type of cancer amongst Egyptian women. In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we’ve compiled a list of  Egyptian resources and organisations fighting breast cancer by dedicating themselves to everything from early detection and treatment to psychological support and awareness campaigns.

BAHEYA // @baheyafoundation

Known for being the first-ever free-of-charge breast cancer hospital in Egypt, the Baheya Foundation provides treatments, mammograms and surgeries. Baheya also put together a myriad of awareness campaigns, often organizing runs and marathons to raise money for the foundation.

BREAST CANCER FOUNDATION OF EGYPT (BCFE) // bcfe.org

BCFE offers cancer care, diagnoses and surgeries for women, with either partial or full financial support. They provide free individual and group psychological support for women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, life coaching and laughter yoga. BCFE is currently registered under the Ministry of Social Solidarity.

EGYPTIAN SOCIETY OF WOMEN’S HEALTH // eswih.org

The Egyptian Society of Women’s Health mainly focuses on the prevention and awareness of breast cancer, with specialised campaigns, psychological support and educational forums targeting low-income women across Egypt.

This treatment centre offers breast cancer surgical treatment, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Their website hosts a range of articles and resources in Arabic to raise awareness and provide support to breast cancer patients.

Besides its services in the fields of gynecology, ostroporsis, dermatology and more, this woman-focused clinic offers breast cancer diagnosis, treatment and psychological support.
