Egypt Wants to Set Aside 5% of All Jobs for People with Disabilities
The Ministry of Social Solidarity has recently called on Egyptian companies and factories to integrate people with disabilities into their workforce, helping them with a specialised job search site.
In an effort to further integrate people with disabilities into the labour force, Egypt’s Ministry of Solidarity has called on private enterprises, companies and factories, to maintain a 5% rate of employees with disabilities.
The Ministry of Social Solidarity recently launched an online job hunting platform to better enable Egyptians with disabilities to find employment and insurance. The decision to establish the website was announced after the ministry signed a memorandum of understanding with the Egyptian Company for International Tourism Projects to train and hire 30 young men and women with disabilities.
Two weeks ago, Egypt announced a five-point strategy to integrate people with disabilities into society more effectively, along with the establishment of the ‘Differently-Abled Fund’. The plan includes specialised programmes, new services, and training for teachers, amongst many other objectives.
