How Active Are Egyptians on Social Media Compared to Everyone Else?

So they say that we have a bit of a social media addiction. Nonsense! Sure some of us spend all our time at work and at home doomscrolling through Facebook or Instagram or Reddit or Twitter - but us in Egypt? We’re not THAT addicted. We don’t even make it to the top ten countries in social media usage! No, no, no. As a matter of fact, we’re only the 11th most social media obsessed nation in the world.

If that sounds about right, thank London’s ‘We Are Social’ media analytics platform for bringing that date to our attention with their yearly digital report. According to the report, Egyptians have spent an average time of 3 hours and 13 minutes per day in January alone, with the average demographic ranging from 16-64 years old.

This sustained growth in social media activity corroborates with the global shift towards digitization and ongoing demand for socially distanced and COVID-friendly work environments.
