Public Prayers to Resume For Women Starting Ramadan 2022

With the holy month of Ramadan just around the corner, the Ministry of Awqaf has announced women’s praying areas in mosques will finally reopen, as long as those overseeing the proceedings continue to maintain COVID-19 regulations, such as limiting Taraweeh prayers to 30-minute intervals. Women’s prayer areas were initially closed during 2020 to curb the spread of COVID-19, but that will no longer be the case once Ramadan begins on April 2nd.

The ongoing ban on annual Ramadan charity banquets - generally held in public areas - will remain in effect. Those seeking late nights of Tahajjud will also have to stay at home, as mosque-based spiritual seclusion will not be allowed.
