Egyptian artist Abdullah Miniawy’s debut album and seventh international release, 'Le Cri du Caire', has won the award for Best Album in the Musique de Monde category during Les Victoires du Jazz, an annual French jazz award program.

Born in 1994, Miniawy is a multifaceted talent whose acting, writing, musical compositions, and diverse vocal range have captivated audiences and critics alike. Miniawy has shared the stage with renowned artists like Swiss jazz trumpeter Erik Truffaz, Palestinian singer Kamilya Jubran, and French vocalist Médéric Collignon, amongst others.

‘Le Cri du Caire’ - or ‘Sarkhet Al Qahera’ -  immerses listeners in a swirl of Miniawy's resonant vocals and stirring jazz instrumentals. The melodies transport the mind, invoking tenderness, deep longing and spirited cries, capturing the political and historical essence of Cairo’s past, blended with Miniawy's own experiences..

Les Victoires du Jazz celebrates exceptional jazz talent from around the world, and Miniawy's victory in the World Music category establishes him as an internationally innovative voice in music.

Beyond his musical achievements, Miniawy's acting talent earned him accolades for his lead role in Alaadine Slim's film ‘Tlamess’, which was recognized at the Cannes Film Festival and Marrakech International Film Festival. As a composer, he has contributed to various dance shows, theater pieces, and exhibitions.
