Artist Spotlight: Kamikazem - On Adding Nuance to Egypt’s Rap Scene

As the Egyptian rap scene makes way for an emerging generation of artists, Kamikazem has been making his voice heard by striking a balance between an easy-going attitude and thoughtful deliberation on social issues.

As part of Egyptian collective ‘Ka2en’, Kamikazem’s music blends a diverse range of influences. Along with frequent collaborators Lil Abad, Sudma, and Taymour Radwan, Kamikazem has arrived at a hard-hitting sound that serves as a foundation for his mood-driven rap style.

As he feels that the regional rap scene can be monotonous at times, Kamikazem constantly tries to refresh his sound, be it through creative sound design or clever songwriting. The artist also finds collaboration to be a catalyst in his creative process, as he states that working with a group oftentimes leads to the development and growth of projects.
