Moe Hani is back in action with his trademark dreamy lo-fi, synth-wave and dream-pop stylings, but this time with the added flavour of Arabic lyrics.

Egypt’s Dirty Backseat Releases New Arabic Single ‘A'olak Eh!’

Hot on the heels of his January-released EP, Pop Heart Aching Songs, Dirty Backseat is back with a special release that sees the one man band of Moe Hani record in Arabic for the first time in almost three years.

‘A'olak Eh!’ comes as the first peek into yet another upcoming EP, Bee-Sides, but the more significant point with the single is that it illustrates Hani’s ability to fuse Arabic lyrics with the distinctly un-Arabic sounds of synth-pop and lo-fi.Written in collaboration with producer/singer-songwriter, 200 Shams - fellow founder of Cairo imprint, SLOVVDK - the nostalgia-inducing track also features the producer dishing out some ferociously funky organ solos alongside Hani’s trademark washed-out vocals.

The best thing one might say about the dreamy, melancholic track is that, when taken as a whole, it’s what one might expect the love child of Tame Impala and Arctic Monkeys to be, with a hint of early Radiohead - and that’s a comparison of the highest respect to a man that has carved out a niche for himself on Egypt’s music scene.
