El Sawareekh's 'EhDa EhDa' Gets House Remix by Beirut's Wass on Earth
The mahraganat madmen's hit is taken to the realm of electronic courtesy of Lebanese DJ and producer, Wass on Earth.
An unbridled celebrator of Arab and African music, Wass on Earth - aka Wassim Bou Malham of DABAKA, SULTA X & Who Killed Bruce Lee fame - has put together some mighty fine sets over the years, as a DJ that loves to dig into to local and regional sounds through sampling and original recordings.
His latest show appreciation comes in the form of smooth house remix of 'Eh Da Eh Dah' by Egyptian mahraganat/shaabi group, El Sawareekh, a piece Wass dedicates to huis "Egyptian family." It's a wholly unexpected piece of work, one that shapes the original into something wholly different without ever losing that anthemic "Eh Dah, Eh Dah... Eh Dah, Eh Dah."
