Molotof & Kamel Embody Orientalism In ‘Men Al Bahr ela Al Nahr'

When Molotof’s name pops up, we usually think of either his innovative takes on hip hop productions or his solo electronic endeavors. Whether it was with ‘Denamet’, ‘Dorak Gai’, or even ‘Free’, Molotof has certainly inspired an entire generation of rising hip hop artists or producers with his original and contemporary approach with modern shaabi/mahraganat and Arabic hip hop, giving birth to a historic style that’s been adopted in endless shapes and forms since.

Molotof is an artist who enjoys collaborating with different musicians, whether they be other producers, rappers of course, composers, and even instrumentalists. His latest alliance sees him joining forces with Egyptian oud player Kamal on ‘Men Al Bahr ela Al Nahr’, a downtempo-oriental fusion with major mahraganat sonics reckoned amongst the mix.

Heavenly pads make up the foundations of the track before the introduction of Molotof’s signature drums and Kamel’s intense oud solo. Mid-way through the single, Molotof introduces a mizmar-sounding synth-line that immaculately matches the oud’s sonic aura.
