Five-star Chedi Hotels to Open New Property in El Gouna

Chedi Hotels & Residence is looking towards El Gouna for the opening of their next five-star property, bringing the scale and splendour of the Chedi Andermatt in the Swiss Alps and the Chedi Lustica Bay Hotel on the coasts of Montenegro to this idyllic Egyptian resort town by the Red Sea.

“When you’ve built the kind of momentum we have in Andermatt and Montenegro, it was only a matter of time before a third effort was going to have to come off the ground,” GHM CEO Tommy Lai tells SceneTraveller. “Given Orascom’s deep roots in Egypt and in El Gouna, a place on the Red Sea was all but inevitable.”

While the Chedi El Gouna is scheduled to fling open its fabulous doors in the first half of 2022 - one need only look at their previous properties in Andermatt and Lustica Bay to clearly visualise it in Egypt. These Chedi Hotels are luxurious five-star affairs, all built as part of a collaboration between Singapore-based hotel group GHM and Switzerland-based Orascom Hotels Management. Borrowing from Asian design elements, the hotels stretch out across their respective properties with grace and confidence, encompassing super stylish rooms and works-class facilities.

In El Gouna, the Chedi Hotel will be built on the foundation of an existing beachfront property, which once housed the Bellevue Hotel. There, one can already see hints of what we can expect: lines of palm trees, gargantuan pools, and stretches of sand kissing the edges of the Red Sea. But beyond that, it is also possible to see the signs of something more, how the trademark sophistication of the Chedi Hotels is set to become a haute-hub for discerning sun-seekers.
