Historic 1986 Tourism Agreement with Luxor & Petra Finally Activated

Egypt and Jordan have activated an 1864 agreement that will allow them to twin the historical areas of Luxor and Petra, an ancient city considered one of the Seven New Wonders of the World, in order to encourage tourism between them. While you may be asking yourself why this agreement is being revisited 35 years later, it’s because the agreement originally specified that this will happen between 2022 and 2024 - talk about a long play.

The agreement will allow Egypt and Jordan to cooperate on tourism promotion, marketing, training and sustainable development, while helping each other develop tourism legislation and regulations. The partnership also presents a golden opportunity for joint festivals between the two countries, which will help them promote and exchange tourists between Luxor and Petra.
